Advanced Parol

My advaced parol has been approved last week while I-485 is still pending. I am planning to travel outside the country in 2 months. What should I after receiving the approval notice? Do I need to get my passport stamped or anything like that?

I have heard that I automatically abandon H-1 status once I use advanced parol to enter the country. Is that true?

Thanks a lot in advance. :)

you need to get EAD

Once you use AP to enter the US, your H-1B is terminated and you need EAD to work legally. If you have not done so, apply for an EAD today. You can do it by yourself.
1) I-485 receipt notice;
2) check with $120;
3) application form (only one page) completed, signed, and dated.
4) two photo in the style required by INS;
5) copy of previous EAD document.
It usually takes 90-120 days for approval of such a case.
For more information, go to www.ins.usdoj.gov --- INS forms ---
I-765 --- read instructions carefully, and then find out the PO Box number you need to mail your application to. Don't ask for this information b/c you sure can find it on your own.

- If you have a valid H1 VISA stamped in your passport, you can use it instead of AP.
- Now that you have your AP, you don't have to get anything stamped.
- It's better to have your EAD card with you along with AP (just in case). But it's not needed.
- Yes, if you use AP to enter, you need to use EAD to work. i.e. you'll abandon your H1B status.
- However, in your next trip, if you use your valid H1B VISA on your passport to enter, you will revert back to H1B.
- Upon arriving, there is a seperate (shorter) queue for AP. You don't have to wait in the big one.
- Have fun!
