What would be procedure for applying for Advance Parole and how early should one file for one? I intend to travel to India in Aug.

My 485 RD is early Nov 2001. (EAC-02-055-XXXXX).

You can find the procedure in the Immigration.com FAQ.
A colleage of mine has ND April 1st for his Advance Parole and haven't got it yet.
I believe that a so-called walk-in would be a good alternative if the travel is important enough.
