Advance Parole question

How long can one be out of US on AP ? Is it OK to go out of
US for about 3-4 months if I have an AP valid upto that period ?

Since AP is for emergency travel, do the officer at POE asks the
reason for travel ?

Please advise.

3 months is definitely OK, my wife was out for that long.
Nobody will ever ask you about reasons for your travel.
