Me and my wife have H1B valid thru Jan2010.
Have EB2 based EAD/AP valid thru Oct 2010. We have not involked it yet.
Current Priority date is:Feb2004
Our priority date is :Jan2006
Fingerprinting done (twice)
I am considering to resign the position and to be in India to handle some family priorities for worst case 15 months i.e. till May 2010.
(It's looking for groom for youngest sister. I came back from India this month..from 3 months of company approved vacation to try for her marriage..things did not move much in 3 months. I am convinced this may take much longer and continued stay of mine back home)
If I choose not to opt to switching to AP**, then I must count on AP for my reentry.
Q#1 Q#3 First of all can I come back on valid AP after 1&1/2 year of out of the country stay, practically ?
Q#2 Will it be necessary to have at the time of return, an offer letter (around the time of return) from a new company offering me a very similar position ?
Q#3 Will it be sufficient ?
Q#4 What all things must I take care of..now, to ensure safe return to USA at that time ?
(I presume C/o person to receive and convey any USCIS RFE/notice to me)

(I seeked guidance related for "switching to Consular processing and then returning to India" in a separate thread...Getting letter from the same employer at the future interview time which may happen after 2 years which seems to be requirement for CP..... asks for lots of things to come together....including employer's survival till that time and current associate colleagues being there who'd be interested in my similar services again after 2 years)
