Hi !

I am a US citizen and would like to apply the advance parole (I-131) for my family (Greencard holders) for the first time. Heard that, from last year onwards I-131 requires finger printing too. Would really appreciate, if anybody could confirm that from their recent experience.

Thank You

You can't apply for Advance Parole if you are a greencard holder. The form is still I-131, but what you are looking to apply for is the Re-Entry Permit. Greencard holders are only eligible for Re-Entry Permits (unless they held Asylum status - in which case they would also be eligible for a Refugee Travel Document). And yes, your family members would need to submit their biometrics as part of the application process. The biometrics appointment letter will be sent out within 2-3 weeks after submitting the application. Applicants must be in the United States when the application is submitted.

If I understand you correctly, they will be green card holders and they need to apply for an I-131, correct?
