Adustement of status from F1 to G4

Hi Guys,

I am currently doing my PhD and I am in legal F-1 status. I was just offered a great job at the International Monetary Fund but I need a G-4 visa before I can start. This is my third year of Phd so it is perfect time to quit

Can I do a change of status from F1 to G4 while in The United States?


I already used my 1 year of OPT.

If you hold a visa that already allows you to work at the international organization, such as an F-1 Student Visa with Optional Practical Training, a change of status may be possible from within the U.S.

You may be able to enroll in an academic program under your G4 visa, but you'll need to discuss the specifics with your employer and/or the department at your school that assists students with academic issues.
