Adoption from India

Wife and Me we are USC and would like to adopt a child from India.

I have read that the child should be living with you for a period of time before you can bring him/her to United States. Is this true?

Can some one who has already gone through it, please point me in the right direction? How long the entire process takes? How much does it cost? Any reliable adoption agencies?

you can try www.indiachildren.com to get a list of adoption agencies approved by GOI. however please use your own judgement while choosing the agency and also ask your people/relatives in India to do some research before you go ahead.
