Administrative processing pending for H1b visa and dependent visa

Hi

My husband had a H1b visa stamped in 2006 and expiring in 2009. We travelled to the states only in november 2008. since his visa was expiring the company applied and got a 3 year extention on his visa from the us government in september 2009.

We came to india in March 2010 and gave an interview at the us consulate on the 17th of March. Our case was put in administrative processing and they took all our documents as well as our passports. We have been waiting for the past 5 week and have not heard anything back from them. The case id only reflects "pending process".

Can the consulate take so much time to stamp our visas even after we have gotten approval from the us government and granted and extention. How much more time will it take for the processing. My daughter is missing her school as we took a month off from her school to come to India. Can sending a mail requesting speedy process as my daughter is missing school help?

Please advice as to what we should do now.

It will take as long as it takes. Your daughter missing school (your poor planning in timing your visit) is not a USCIS problem. The screening at this time is more strict than at your first stampings. It very well might be denied and you not receive visa stampings.
