adjudication

Hi:
What does it mean when an INS officer tells you on the phone, "I am sending your file for adjudication." Meaning for approval? How long does it take after her sending it to wherever she sent it.
Thanks.

question

Were you able to talk to someone at TSC or the National Calling Center? What is your ND/RD? I have seen several such posts asking the same question you have. No one knows the answer for sure.

Adjudication means - take a decision on the case (I-485).
i.e The immigration officer verifies all necessary documents and approve the Perm Residency or send RFE or deny. This process is called adjudication.

Once the Immigration officer adjudicate your case and approve it you are a free bird:)

Good Luck!

After The INS received the results of my fingerprinting in December 2002, I was told exactly that and in fact my case was assigned to an officer for adjudication on 12/19/2002. In Feb, I was even told that the officer is currently working on my case. However, it is May and I am still waiting for an approval. I think some IIOs say anything just to get people off their backs for some time. Recently I was told that my case was just assigned to an officer on 03/28/2003. In March I was told that it had been assigned to an officer on 02/21/2003. So, I do not know what I should believe!!!
Good Luck to you and everyone else at TSC.
