Addresses on the N400 form

The N400 form asks for 2 addresses in section4.
First is Home Address. Second is Mailing Address.

I want to know if there is somebody who has used both these addresses. Basically I am a consultant and I am on the road all the time. So I am wondering if I put a POBox address in the Mailing address (like from Mailboxes etc.. who then forward the mails to whereever I am at a point in time) in the mailing address section - will INS send all correspondence like finger print notice, interview notice, etc.. to the mailing address?

Does anybody know if this is ok to do OR is it risky since INS might send mails to my home address inspite of the fact that I have put a mailing address?

Hi,

I am a consultant as well. Using different address is like playing Russian roulette honestly. ONLY put your permanent address as both addresses and if you are gone for consistent periods of time, authorize someone to check your mail for you and let you know.

I just applied and I cannot wait to move back home and even if I will take extended time of the country during the next months, I will still keep my lease (to prove my continous residency) and to also have my roomates check my mail for me and let me know if any important letters have been received.

Bottom line: stick with one address ALL THROUGHOUT the process.

It is VERY risky to do what you are proposing
 
I used two addresses. I live in A, but we thought we might move and so, wanted to give a stable location for the mailing address (didn't want to deal with address change if the event arose).

So, I gave my sister-in-law's place as my mailing address (B). All receipts went to her and she'd call me and then give me the letter.

At the interview, the guy asked me about address B. I explained that I thought I might move etc. He was fine with it. NO ISSUES whatsoever.

I guess the only reason to be careful is to ensure that you have residency in the state that you are applying in. You can prove that with utility bills etc.

I used the home address as my mailing address and P.O. Box . Everything was fine. I f you know you are not moving in the next year, use the home address both ways, otherwise just get a P.O. Box and use that as your permanent mailing address. They already know your home address so you should be fine

Do you mean you used your actual Home Address in the "Home Address" field AND used a POBox Address in the "Mailing Address" field?
If so - did you receive all the notices at the PO Box and did nothing come to your home address?

My oath ceremony is in 10 days.

I have used a PO box number as my Mailing address. and Gave my home address as permanant address.

I thought I was going to vacate the apartment so, didnt know which apartment i will be moving on a later date. So, I rented a PO box and used that for all main stuff. Bank statements, USCIS, etc.

YES, u will get the Notice of Action(priority date ) letter for ur application, Finger print attending date, Interview call letter, and also ur Oath letter to that mail box...( IF U MENTION IT AS UR MAILING ADDRESS). On the day of the interview, the officer will ask you ur permanant address orally. (at that time u will mention ur physical living address).

The purpose of USCIS giving that column is for such purposes.

I had no problem or delay in my process whatsoever. Infact after my oath ceremony, I was going to post my total process and experience in this forum. I will finish my oath exactly in 3 months from my application date. So I think that was a very fast process, from what I have read in this forum.
