Names of applicants on mailbox

This is just information aimed at people specifically whose spouses have retained their maiden name after marriage on all official documentation with BCIS for whatever reason.

I had applied for EAD renewal for Self & Spouse. I got my rcpt notice, EAD all within 25 days but nothing for spouse. I put that down to sending both apps in one packet and am now pursuing it separately.Unfortunatly the back of the cheque deposited for her was illegible and hence I was unable to get the EAC no.

A few days back I applied for AP for both in separate envelopes. A few days later I got my rcpt notice but not hers. Luckily the "image" on the back of the cheque issued with her app. was showing the number and hence I have something to go on.

My point here is that the mailbox at our apartment just mentions my last name on the mail box and not hers. A zealous postman must be in all probablity returning the mail back.

This is my own experience and I may be entirely off the mark but this information may help a small section of people from having this experience by mentioning both last names on the mail box.

Dont know man .. my wife uses her maiden name and she gets more mail then me. I dont think we have ever lost any mail. You need to put both your last names in the mail box and whenever you move, you need to fill mail forwarding forms for both of you. You will never loose any mail like that.

The ridiculous thing is that this policy is also not consistent (what is anyway). My wife's first EAD came without any hassles and so did the FP notice. But both renewal rcpt's may have gone back. Well at least I know of this now. At some distant date (some moons away) when the 485 approval comes it wont go back. I have stuck both our names all over the d... mailbox.

Just an update. I had changed the names on the mailbox to reflect both our last names. Lo and behold my wife's AP rcpt came today. Strangely it was postmarked for the same day when I had got it. Also I got a letter from BCIS giving me the missing rcpt number for EAD and stating that the card had been returned to them as undeliverable earlier. I guess I just need to call up and explain.. Miracles never cease to happen !!!
