Address Change

My ND/RD is in May 2002. Now my apartment management is asking me to move to a two bedroom apartment since we have a daughter. I told them about the immigration process and expressed my willingness to stay in the same address, but they are not helpful and say my moving is absolutely required.

What is involved in this? I know I have to file one form for address change (AR 11?) - is it correct? Does it have to go thru' the lawyer or can I file it myself? Is there anything else that I should do?

Will it create a problem?

Thank you.

Well you have to file AR11 and you can do it by yourself...
Go thru this board for further details...!After sending AR-11 after two or three weeks DO call INS Service Centre(VSC) and check with the IIO if they have updated your address on their system{Mostly they wouldn't be and hence the call to update on their system}

Moving within the local area wouldn't trigger I guess..!

Hope this helps

AR-11

pvm,

1) You can file AR-11 on your own, one for each member in the family. Also remember to keep a proof of mailing for your records.

2) Do inform the lawyer's office about your change of address (preferably through e-mail or in writing.)

3) Finally call the VSC speak to an IIO and request them for change of address. My attorney's office got that done, so check with your attorney if they will inform VSC or you need to take care of the same.

My advice, always keep a paper trail while dealing with BCIS and lawyers.

Finally visit thread for more information

when I moved, I never filled AR-11, just called IIO and changed the address, the address has been updated, do you think I still need to send AR-11?

Thanks

485GCCase,

It would be better to follow what the law requires and file AR-11, even though the purpose of AR-11, to change address in their database, is served.

Why give BCIS a reason to question?

Solely my opinion.
