I140 filed - Nov 2004
I485 getting ready to file in - Jan 2005

Thinking of changing residence locally ( so no Service center change).
Lawyer says:
1. Do not move atleast until you receive AP, FP and EAD.
2. USCIS does not forward mails based on address change request made at the Post office or based on the AR-11 form.

Questions:
1. Any advice/experience on when is it safe to move after filing AOS and I140.
2. Any other letters that need to be sent so that we don't miss any interview invites etc. that may come later in the process as I read on some other threads on this forum.

Best,

Best,

You can change your addrss anytime you want localy/same city/nearby. Ppl usually don't move to other serivce center juriduction to avoid their case be transfered to local officer or other serivce center.

EAD,AP will be filed with/concurrent 485 or after 485 , and FP takes sometime years ,

If you are planning to file 485 then best option is to move first, file AR-11 inform ur serbvice center about moving and request them to update in pending 140. and then wait and file all three 485+AP+EAD together with new address, and you must send a letter to ur service center (check USCIS site where to file address change) with ur 140 receipt and request to update ur address, plus don't forget to file AR-11. once ur moving complete and you have filed AR-11 wait for week or two to get effected on ur pending applicaiton. then file 485+++++.

the following is the common safe method to update address... its for TSC plz find and use ur service center at USCIS site.

-------------------------
Steps to follow about Addr change,

1. File AR-11 or (AR-11SR - special registeration country)

2. Compose a request letter, attach all pending petitions and send the below addr

http://uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/texas/aboutus.htm

Address and Attorney Change Notification

(note: USE your service center addr. the following is only for Texas ppl)

USCIS TSC
P.O. Box 850891
Mesquite, TX 75185-0891

3. Call 800 / customer support and let them know about new addr.

4. in most case online msg chage "we responed your request for info about case...." or LUD cnanges. u may or may not get a confirmation letter. if not then keep followup call again to 800 they would confirm if new addr record has been updated.

------------------------------

Good Luck

Thanks for the info -

So by following procedure that you mention, can one safely get the change of address details in their system if we plan to move after receiving 140 approval, AP, EAD and FP before they send out any further material w.r.t the I485. (Assuming that after they send put those 3 docs, it takes them sometime to send out any further docs or interview invites etc. reqd for the I485 process)

File AR-11 or (AR-11SR - special registeration country)

2. Compose a request letter, attach all pending petitions and send the below addr

Make it simple and don't get confused.

1. You can change your address any time u want.

Since u are planning to file 485+AP+EAD then move first, update ur address ifor your pending I140 by using following that instruction. once ur moved is complete then file all three 485+AP+EAD using new address.

Are you waiting PD to become currnet so u can file 485?? if yes then don't wait for 140 appvl, immidiately follow the 485,

Good Luck
