I have a question about the INS rule related to the address change. Eversince I first came to this country I moved 4 different locations in 4 different states. But after applying I-485 from VSC, I haven't moved since then. So, do I still need to inform INS about previous change of addresses? Need your advice on this. Please reply.
Thanks.

I guess your previous addresses were already mentioned in the basic Information sheet which you submitted while filing AOS. Hence no need to inform anything as you did not move after filing I-485.

If you have attorney, inform him about the current address change. I guess he will send the change of address to INS. But still it won't get changed in the system. Hence you may have to call IIO and update which you can do if you think you are nearing your approval (observe the approvals of your dates near your RD and ND). this is the way I did and got approved on 26th. I am an August filer and changed address to different state after my FP.

Hope this helps.

gcfunwaiting, I have a question for you.

Did you move to a different service center jurisdiction ?

I am in a situation where I am moving to a state that comes under a different service center (TSC). I would not like my application to get transferred. Is there anything I can do to prevent it ?

The case will not move to a different Service Center just because of your move to a different service jurisdiction.

I filed AOS (my RD Aug 15 and ND Oct 11) in VSC because my company is located under VSC jurisdiction. When filing I-485, I was living under Nebraska jurisdiction and after my FP in Dec 01, I moved to Texas jurisdiction.

Intimated change of address to company attorney. He said he will update INS. I called IIO, the latest in July 02. The address is still the old in the system. I told IIO and changed it (for me and my wife) and started thinking this may trigger RFE. But my case was approved on Aug 26th.

Where did you do the stamping?

gcFunWaiting,
Did you do the stamping in your new address under TSC? Or did you go back to your prior location? What was the local INS address in your approval notice? I am in the same situation and would like to hear your experience. I moved from VSC jurisdiction to TSC jurisdiction.

RD 10-25-01
ND 12-03-01

As I mentioned earlier in my previous posting, my current address comes under Texas jurisdiction, and as i changed my address by calling IIO in July, I am expecting the courtesy copies next week sometime in mail to my current address from VSC.

gcFunWaiting,

Have you filed AR-11 after you moved?

I move in Apr and called IIO a couple times. But never filed AR-11. the IIO said I did not need to file AR-11 since I called them to notify the change. I don't know if I should trust them.

This is a potential problem in my case. Don't know what is going to happen.

I haven't filed any AR-11 form for change of address. My company attorney said he will update INS but no clue what he did in Feb 02.

Infact when I moved, I asked company's attorney how to update INS regd the change of address. He told me that it will be done by him as he is representing me and so I did not care.

There was a discussion on this forum regd address change in June, I think, that though attorney or company update change of address to INS, the system in Service Centers will not get updated. So no clue what they do. This made me to call IIO and find out what my current address was. It happened in my case also that IIO is reading my old address. I told him that my attorney updated INS long back but it is still old address and asked whether I can update it now. As he said go ahead, I told him my new address which he updated in the system. Hence expecting the courtesy copies next week to my current address.

Hope this clarifies you.
