Address Change Form, please help!

Hello Friends,

I am trying to fill the AR-11 form to notify INS for the change of address. I have applied for I 485 in December 2001, and got EAD in February 2002. I also applied for H1 renewal and got the approval in January 2002. I did not use my EAD for any of the
purposes till date. I need some help in filling some fields of AR11 form:

1. I want to know whether I need to specify me as
- permanent resident or other. If I specify as other should I say that I am on H1 or EAD.

My lawyer's assistant said to fill as other - H1 and fill the last field which requires you to fill the expire of your stay.

2. Port of Entry should be the first entry or the last entry.

Any help is appreciated.

My is different case because I have completed 6 years on h1b.
When I files AR-11, I put EAD as status and "EAD expires on" as a Valid until Date.
I think in your case, H1B and i-94 date should be fine.

Do what your lawyer ask you to do.

I guess you should go not worry about those detials, as INS must have all records pertaining to your status. Since you are informing then of change of address, and they already have their case file with you, they must be well aware of your status.

You should mention that you are on H1 Visa, and also have valid EAD card.

- Yes, Exactly.

- Even you file AR-11, Talk to IIO after 2/3 weeks and confirm change of address is entered into system. Most of the time it won't.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Also, Port entry is the first entry or the last entry.

- Port of entry is the last entry in US where your immigration check was done.

After you do the AR-11, Call the IIO and change the address online. I read there are 700,000 AR-11 form pending and not updated in the INS database.
