Address Change during Citizenship file under process?

I will be eligible to apply for citizenship on 5/1/10. Currently living in california. I have few questions regarding address change:

1. Is it mandatory to stay in same state while your application is under process? For instance, while my application is under process and I do need to move out of CA due to job change. Can I do that without impacting my application process?

2. How many months usually takes for california residents from the date when application is made till you receive the citizenship?

Thanks in advance!

You have to be a resident where you apply for 3 months. If you move in between, I think you have to wait 3 months to 'establish residence' in the new place, then apply. if you apply now and move, and file the AR-11 etc there may be a delay in sending your file from one DO to another... It may depend on where the application is (what stage) when the change of address is handled.

Can you wait for 3 months after you move?

You need to live for three month in the same jurisdiction of a USCIS field office for that office to process your application.

one needs to be resident for 90 days in same USCIS jurisdiction field office prior to filing for N-400. If you plan to move around the time you become eligible for filing for naturalization (N-400); either you need to move and wait for 90 days before filing N-400 in new state (or if you are moving to an area in same state but under different field office), or if you move during processing of N-400, your case processing may be delayed till you meet 90 days requirement.

Thanks PerpetualGC, WBH and olddude for your reply. I guess I can delay my move for few months if needed. But I don't really know how long the citizenship process takes (i.e from a date I file an application till the date I get my passport).

I live in San Jose, California. Does anyone know how long this citizenship process takes?
