Address Change after filing I-485

Dear friends
I filed for I-485 in Oct 01. I have recd RD. I am not clear on steps involved in 485 processing. I request u to kindly take some time and share ur knowledge with me.

a) What are the different steps in 485 processing ? Is this order right and how much time will these take ?
  1) FP
  2) Interview
  3) Passport stamping
  4) Mailing of Approval by INS
  5) Mailing of Plastic cards (GC) by INS

b) I am planning to shift residence in another 2 months within same county. Will this affect my 485 processing ?

Your Options

You could request a Change of Address and there is a form on the INS web site that you could use.

Do remember that the INS mail does not get forwarded. So if you make a request to your Post Office for change of address and mail forwarding it will not apply to the INS mail.

Your best option is to make a request to the INS and follow up a few weeks later with a phone call confirming that your request has been handled.
