Additional systems check ?

Just received an email from USCIS on requesting on my I-485 application expedite through email to them. Below is the reply from USCIS. Does anyone know what does additional systems check means ?

Reply:
"The cases are currently undergoing additional systems check. Please allow an additional 180 days for processing"

It probably is the infamous namecheck. how is your I-140?

You can send email to CSC-XII.485@dhs.gov to enquire more and expedite your case. You may wanna include following details to help them pull up your case from systems and reply you on time.

Your details:
Applicant
Alien No
Date of Birth
I-485 Receipt no
I-485 Receipt date

I had enquired on 02/11/2005 and received reply from USCIS on 02/27/2005 (I guess it takes 2 weeks to get reply from them).
 
I got the exact same reply for an inquiry initiated by my lawyer. It says that "The cases are going through additional checks...Allow 180 days for processing."
My 485 RD is March 2004
 
I had my lawyer inquired on my and wife 485. I got following response:
For myself:
The case is currently undergoing additional systems check. Please allow an additional 180 days for processing

For my wife:
The case was referred to an officer/responsible division for processing.

Any idea what is this means? Are we any close to approval?

140 - RD - 2/4/04, Approved - 11/2/04
485 - RD - 4/7/04, 2nd EAD approved - 2/28/05, last LUD - 11/3/04
