Today i got an email from USCIS for 485

This case(s) is undergoing additional security checks.
Please allow 180 days before submitting another inquiry.

What is that means??Is that with name check or with some other thing??What is additional Security Check??

Same the case with me. I called CSC emergency numbers and confirmed that they initiated a name check with FBI. Seems like it will take anytime between 3 months to 12 months. Keep cool and wait for the results from FBI.
 
Hi statusfinder,

Is additional security check and namecheck both r same or different.Bcos for my wife they told that her name check was cleared on Jan 2005.I dont know for me.

I am in the same boat too. Don't know what to do other than waiting for another stupid 6 months before I can even ask anything again.

That stupid thing can go anywhere between 1 day to 10 years. I have been waiting for name check for more than 1.5 years already. I will not be surprised to wait for another 1.5 years. All I can do now is hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

candie, hope you will get the clearance soon! did you contact any congressmen? what did they say?

the lady was very nice and she told me that my name check (aka. detailed review) was initiated in 2003 and is still pending at the FBI. nothing can be done....almost 1.5 years too.

this is most disconcerting...

I checked for my status on Nov. 11th 2004 and got a reply today from FBI that the name check was completed on March 4 2005. My 485 RD is Jan 2004.

My experience

I have contacted the congressman, senetors, Hooton, Hardy, Eilein?, Tom Ridge. and every one I can think of except President Bush - No use. through my experience and reading many others, I feel these effort may be useful earlier, when just a few people contact FBI though some middle man. Recently, so many people try to get name check done, no use any more. Just my feeling.
