Adding Spouse to Cp appl

Does anyone kn ow at which stage in the CP Process do you need to get amarried.I mean can you include your spouse in the appl just before the interview .

One of my friend got his I140 (for CP) approved and went to India. In India he got married and was able to include his wife name in his application, he and his wife cleared their CP interview, but she had to wait for around a month there for her background check by that time my friend was in US and his wife joined him after a month.
I guess thats one other option you have.
