I recently got approved for my GC, got stamped and everything. Now I am considering a job offer overseas from the same instituion that I work for. I found out that i may lose my GC by being out of the states for more than a year eventhough i 'll be working for a US institution.I also discovered that i can file a N-470 which asks for residence to be preserved toward naturalization despite the fact that I am outside the U.S.
on the other hand, to qualify for that, my employer has te be listed in the American institutions of research recognized by the Attorney
General that may be found at 8 CFR section 316.20(a).
My question: SInce my employer is not listed in the list, how do i go by adding it ? i googled the subject and found out there were cases where institutions were added. and FYI, my employer should qualify since it's a state university.
