hi all,

I just returned from my activation visit to US.
I stayed 20 days there , but my green card did not arrive. my family stayed back in US
i will be going back finally in a month. by then the visa would have expire.
I read on the visa that upon endorsement it become a temporary evidence of permanent residence. what does this endorsement mean?
the immigration officer at JFK stamped my passport on the page adjoining the visa and wrote a number on the visa. is this enough?
I have already booked my next trip , I hope there will not be any problem then . someone please help me clarify this

With the stamp at the POE your Visa becomes a temporay GC which is valid for one year. So nothing to worry about.

hi Samko,

as i did understood you have in your passport I-551 stamp, which is valid for 1 years. then you can go in and out from USA as you wish.

thanks

hi,

thanks Tanzamania and lai.

yes , the officer stamped my passport, but on the page adjoining the visa, not directly on the visa. and that was my concern. is that okay

they do that to every DV winner ," they stamped your passport with i-551 in
adjoining page to the Visa. So nothing to worry about.

hi,

sorry for bordering u again. the stamp on my passport only read department of home land security, custom and border protection. admitted NYC, DV2 and the date.
there is nothing on it concerning I-551.
is that okay?

Hi there, I speak under correction, but the DV2 means you are the spouse of the primary winner - your wife is DV1. No worries, I'm sure all is okay. If you are still concerned, just phone or e-mail KCC or your embassy to enquire.

There is definitely no need to contact KCC.

Upon endorsement you become a permanent resident and that stamp from the Department of Homeland Security serves as evidence of this for one year from the date on the stamp. It does not have to be on the visa, they almost always stamp the adjoining page. When you re-enter the U.S. they will ask you how long were you gone, then you simply answer however long, e.g 1 month. Thats it.

To be exact

Folks, to be exact, once we first landed and get in the state, even we have no plastic green card, we can going out and in anytime with the DV-VISA right?
