Action team - Volunteers for core team

Friends,

You all might be aware of all the activities we initiated here to address immigration applications backlog at USCIS. Now it is time to organize ourself and form a non-profit organization. Our current focus is on legal action against USCIS and Congressional campaign for GC processing delays.
Attorney Rajiv has agreed to be on Board of directors. Now we are planning to form a core team among our forum members to form this organization and move ahead with our objectives. I would like to have representation of atleast 2 members from each forum. It should be diversified ethnic group. Also team should have both men and women.

Please follow this thread and post your views.

We need representation from all the forums.

Update from Rajiv

We have spoken with the Bar and CitiBank.

It may be very complicated for us to hold your money and then pay ourselves or other people involved. As I have said earlier, paying ourseleves is not an issue. But I may want to hire another law firm to go in with us. That will make our lives a bit easier and probably help get the class certified from Court.

I asked our CPA Mr. Viajy Sharma to help. He was a full time consultant for our firm and now does our consulting as well has his own practice. In my opinion he is an honest man.

Vijay has agreed to open an account and hold your money. We can allow him to take reimbursement for his time spent on the effort and he can manage the accounting and disbursement. The only problem is, whose directions should he obey? For instance, who has the authority to say, spend on this, not that etc..

A much better option is to organize a 501c3 (non-profit corporation). I would be happy to be on the Board of Directors.

Discuss these issues here please.

In the interim, I have a team member looking only at a cause of action on which we can sue.

I will be in Chicago over the weekend. By next week we should have a direction to proceed.

I will have Sharma ji do it.

He was telling me we do not have to wait for the 501c3 status before we can start our activity. The incorporation in VA will take only 2-3 weeks.

I am thinking of incorporating ImmigrationPortal.ORG, Inc. as a non-profit. We own that URL. We could donate that to the community. No problem.

My pleasure for nomination, but I recommend the following two guys from Califronia rather than me (kashmir - CA 14) :
rk4gc - CA 16
karma_yoga - CA 13

I am not a right person because I just started some activities in California to change the current terrible situation and because I am not so interested in working within such an organization right now.
However, if we have 3+ slots from CSC forum, I may accept it.

I gladly accept it, if it is alright with the group.

The “ultimate cause” for which we unite is much bigger than any individual, any website, any forum and any thread.

When I think it is a timing, I will go to the court even alone, however, my current focus is the Legislative Branch for a while.

Also, I am pretty busy for several activities In San Francisco Bay Area, so I have no time to write a draft of document about responsibilities or duties.

In California, there are three right persons for the core action team, better than me.
rk4gc
karma_yoga
140_takes_4ever

I believe thay can do better job in the core action team than me.

I hope Edition/Dsatish/Kashmir and others please draft the responsibilities.

It seems like Cat and Mouse story.. (Who will tie the bell to Cats Neck)
The idea is good to sue the BCIS but why do some member(s) hasitate to join in the action team...??. I hope they should not behave as a catalyst ratherthan activily participating.

Anyway even with at least 4 members we can do somany things...
thanks

kashmir,
there is no restriction of 2 from each center, I said atleast 2.

Also, our action is not restricted only to lawsuit, it includes all our activities including contacting Congress. So please join us along with other active CSC members.

rk4gc (CSC, California)
karma_yoga (CSC, California)
140_takes_4ever (CSC, California)

I'll try to include all three of you in core team. But if someone in core team differs from my idea then you have to decide.

Till now there is no volunteers from TSC or NSC.

thanks Edision,

btw I went through your posts in NSC and TSC.

One possible problem can be its overwhelming to go through the full Action Team thread at VSC to understand whats going on there.

People don't have that much time.

If you can give a gist of whats the goal and why we are forming the Action team , what happened till now and how Rajiv is going to help us in this effort, may be we can see some members showing interest.

Can I do that ? No I dont think so, even I'm kind of lost here. So if you can do it, its great.

thanks for your time.
