My attorney filed my I140 on 04/07/2003. He still has not received any reciept from BCIS ( Formerly INS ) Normally it takes 3 weeks to get the receipt so I am worried now. Can someone share with me their experiences where they took much longer then the normal time to get the receipt of I140.

Thanks

Do not worry about it.
I think, most possibly, the application your attorney filed is not complete and returned by INS for completion. Well, the attorney usually will not tell you that is his/her mistake, probably the attorney already resent it to the INS. Just wait for a few more days. This happened to my once when a univesity filed H-1B petition for me, the university officer forgot to sign the petition and therefore the application was returned by INS for signature. However, she did not tell me this problem when I asked her for the receipt, even no sorry for her mistake after I found out when I finally moved to the university 5 months later.

Waiting for Acknowledgement

Dear All:
My employer says he had applied for I140 on 04/04/2003 but did not get the receipt yet. Am kind of worried since he is puposefully trying to delay the process of me applying for the next stage. You guys may not belive it took me 11 + months to receive the H1 document. On purpose he doesnot include some of the documents and delays the process untill my client gets over. My client is getting over by end of July and am sure this funky creature is trying to delay my appleal for 485 untill after I loose my client and use the same labor I have now on attracting some one new who may want to continue with this company.

1. Is there a way I can find out if I140 had been applied without the receipt in hand.

2. what is the right full procedure to 485 with absolute no problems if I have to apply myself instead of depending on my employer. Again I would like to find out more details on switicng the employer after I485 and what would be the documents I would require.

Am so depressed I wanted to share my feelings for my employer, I would certainly appreciate folks who may tender their response making me understand the process better. Am currently trying to follow up with the threads in immigration.com

thanks
Kumarr

update for my case

:) Hi,
spoke to the Paralegal just now and she told that even though we have not received the receipt the check for the application was encashed on April 14th so the application has been accepted only the acknowlegdement receipt got lost somewhere in the middle....The Law firm has ordered the copy of the encashed check from the bank and the paralegal told me that the check will have the EAC number on the back. Another way to find the case number if you dont get the acknowledgement receipt...
Thanks
