My lawyer has adviced me that applying AC21 inceases the chance of being interviewd, which in turn may delay the process by 6 month to 1 year. Is it true?

it depends. They call pppl randomly fo interview everyone does not get called. OTherwise they will hae toopen backlog center for interviews also. :p

I Think your lawyer may be right

for employment based green card, if you continue to work with the GC filed employer, i think that case will not transfer to local office for interview, they may send AC21 cases for interview.

There is no doubt simpler your case, easier you go through the tunnel. Although it is not 100% certain if you use ac21 you will get an interview.

Depends on the whims and fancies of USCIS

It depends only on the whims and fancies of USCIS. I have been working for the same GC sponsoring employer ever since I came to USA. Lo and behold, TSC approved only I-140 and transferred the I-485 to Dallas local office for no apparent reason. Dallas local office never bothered to conduct the interview when the visa numbers were current and finally got interviewed after retro. Now I don't know how long I have to wait for the GC!
