Dear Members,

I am really curious to know as to what will happen to AC21 in light of the new Ohata memo. As you are aware, the Ohata memo talks about processing 140/485 together.

Centers like NSC etc have not mentioned any timelines on processing the 140 and 485s, but they are expected to bring the processing times down to 6 months by the end of 2006. (Latest NSC Update).

My question is therefore, what will happen to AC21? It definitely does'nt seem like the processing times for 140/485 are going to reduce atleast for the near future! The very purpose of AC21 was to aid the potential immigrants and procivide them with a suitable alternative for the long processing times!

So are the centers going to allow the use of AC21 once 180 days have passed and 140 still pending? Are the immigration lawyers pushing for this or any other alternative? Would greatly appreciate your inputs!

Thanks and wish you all the best of luck!
