Hi

I appeared for the interview yesterday and approved!! Officer was pretty cool though asked plenty of questions.

Received interview appointment letter from local office after my case was transferred from TSC to the local office. Somehow, spouse's file did not move alongwith mine. However, I am not worried much as I was primary applicant.

Reached to local office at 8.05 am. My appointment was at 8.30 am. Entered to the building after security check. Looked for my attorney, she was already there.

Did the finger print and signed the card that will appear on my GC. We were called by the Adjucating officer after waiting for around 15 minutes. I followed him as asked.

He asked for identification - showed him my driver's lic
Asked me ...'so you work for company A' - lawyer said seems his file has not been updated. She mentioned that we send AC21 letter a year back when I joined company B.

he asked for my passport, EAD and AP documents

Asked few questions -
my full name
my parents name(s)
current address

When I entered to US last? port of entry? - (I went to Canada and entered back to US. However, I was not issued new I94). So I mentioned that. He started looking for the stamp. After searching it for a while unsuccessfully, he stumbled through I94 and said he was looking for it. I94 had the stamp when I came US from India. So my lawyer mentioned that sometimes the immigration officer at the port of entry does not issue new I94 if returning from Canada. He was okay with it.

He started asking bunch of questions - mainly from I485 application form page 3. I answered No to all of them.

He again asked do I still work with company A (who filed for GC process)? I said no, I changed my employer a year back.

He asked whether I work in the same or similar field? I said "yes".

He asked my new home phone as my application had old phone number

Showed my signature and asked whether that was my sign on I-485 application. Again I said yes.

Now, I started thinking why this guy is wasting his time asking unnecessary questions....I started loosing my patience.

that was the moment....he said ok give me the name you want it to appear on your GC................what a relief!!

I gave the full name and all of a sudden he asked my attorney if she had my pay stubs......I took out them from my file and passed them to him.

that's it.

He stamped the passport...............wait is over.

hi

My case stayed with TSC all the time. However, my file was sent to local office - San Diego as I moved.

Question for the original sender

Hi,

You mentioned that your wife's file was not at the local office at the time of your interview. What happened to you wife's case. Did she get the green card if yes then when and how.

Actually my wife is the primary applicant and I am dependent on her case and we had the similar situation where I did not get the interview appointment. what should we do in this case?

Thanks

Hi,

My wife's case moved and she was asked to appear for interview. However, due to a mistake in her medical papers, we will have to reappear after getting new papers.

You can bring it up to the officer about the situation then request him to request your file from the service center to the local office (that what my attorney did at the time of interview). Very likely that will move your file and either they will approve your file or call you for interivew....

hope this helps...

Quick Question - Please help

Thank you so much for your reply.

How long it took you to get your wife's file to the local office? Which local office you had the interview? Does your wife was with you at the time of your interview?

Thanks

Shirani
