we will have interview on Aug 13, but my husband cannot find his american passport, the immigration letter said we need to bring the birth certificate and certificates to show your spouse is american citizen. what should we do??

If he gained U.S. citizenship via naturalization then take the 'Certification of Naturalization'.

And if he was born in the USA, his birth certificate should be enough to prove he is an American citizen alone. If he doesn't have any of these things, then you have a problem, because it can take a while to get a replacement certificate of naturalization, I think, and he would need that to get a replacement passport.
