For those who are interested, here\'s some info from the INS web-site (www.ins.usdoj.gov) about processing of EB 485 cases (prior to ACTA) ...
1. While the annual limit on EB permanent residency is 140k, INS has been adjudicating less that 80k cases in EB category for the past 3 years -- that\'s almost 55% utilization.
2. Citizens of any independent country can\'t get more than 9800 EB green cards.
3. Since April\'99, the INS has been aggresively clearing the backlog for naturalization/citizenship applications (this backlog has gone down from about 1.8million cases to under 900k pending cases during that period). During the same period, cases pending for immigration benefits has ballooned from 2.1million to 2.8million.
