About I-485 transferring to another service center

Hi friends,

My I-485 is pending, no fingerprint. I am moving to a city out of the service area of the USCIS center where I filed I-485. My question is this: what should I do if I move? If asking for transfer to another center, what would be changed in the process? More time to wait? Thanks a lot for your help.

Its not your responsability to transfer the case.

All you need to 2 is 2 things:

1) File AR-11 for you and each of your dependants who are not US citizens. Send it via certified mail, and ask to get a delivery receipt sent back to you. This is a legal requirement, but it will not change anything in your pending cases.
2) Call the NCSC 1-800 number and update your address for all your cases and all your dependants' cases (485, EAD, AP, H1B Extension, etc). This will ensure that they correspond with you to the correct address. It may also trigger either a transfer to a different service center, or it may trigger a transfer to the local office, but they may not necessarily transfer it and jsut approve it where it is.
