I am optimistic...
I am optimistic that the current processing time average of 12 months (11-13 months for 90% of cases) will improve. Here are the reasons:
1) INS is supposed to approve I-485 in 6 months, so they should try (more or less hard) to get there.
2) Because last year in July everyone became current (congratulations to those applicant from India, China, to get fair treatment) a huge amount of applications was sent in between Jul-01 to Sep/Oct-01. However, most of these cases are now cleared and the months following Oct-01 have less volume.
Please note that the concurrent filing may slow down things again, but it should not affect applicant who filed between Nov-01 to Jun-02, because these are ahead of the concurrent filers.
My guess is that the processing time will soon be at 10 months. I filed end of January and hope to get approved in December.
