About beneficiary's birth certificate

I still don't have my interview appointment, but I am just wondering about my situation. I am the beneficiary in this scenario. I had with me a certified true copy of my birth certificate and I sent a photocopy of that to USCIS. When I applied for my passport, my embassy took that birth certificate. So, right now I don't have a birth certificate on hand and I don't think the embassy will return it (though I hope they will.) Now, do I really need the original one for the interview? And what problems may arise if I don't have one?

Same thing happened to me (except I lost mine), I had my parents mail me a new certified copy of my BC before the interview and yet, they did not ask for it at the interview at all :p...

But, it is better to be safe than sorry. Call your embassy and get it back. Or have a new certified copy mailed (express) to you.

Thanks for the replies. I'm already looking at what is the best option to get a new one. I just hope I don't encounter problems with getting one because my country is known to process documents at a very slow pace. :( I'm also going to try to get the other copy back from the embassy as I am due to get my new passport tomorrow. I got one thing to rave about though...I got the approval notice on my email about my replacement I-94 woohoo! :D So much of a hassle to lose documents, for real but I'm just glad that I'm slowly getting everything done hopefully in time for my interview. ;)
