A very tough question

I did my fp on March 11, but no any update in AVM. I used EAD to work for a new company because I was laid off by my old sponsor company, the question is the lawyer in old company does not want to serve me any more. And I dont hire new one yet. If I want to inquire INS about my fp information and I485 pending with FAX, can I do it myself or only my lawyer can do it? If only latter, I have to hire another lawyer, which means I must notice INS that I want to change lawyer, this accounts to announce I have changed employer and definitely get RFE. Please share your ideas!

you can call INS

to enquire about your FP status, they can tell you if all checks are completed, why to want ot fax an enquiry?

My 2c worth...

If you passed 180 days and working in a new but similar job then there is nothing to worry about updating INS with new job details! By sending a letter to INS I gues you can take previous lawyer out and add a new one or continue without one.
