Here is a tip to save money to phone call not only AVM but also any nation wide phone call.
I have been used internet phone call to check my application from INS AVM services untill I got the final approval notice. It is the "www.dialpad.com"
If you have internet connection and sound card in your computer with a headset and once you resister to dialpad, you can call anywhere in mainland of USA with free of charge. If you want to just check AVM, you don\'t need to have a headset as long as you have a speaker. If you have high speed internet connection as like DSL or cable modem, you can talk with the others. Of course you can call with dial modem but the voice quality will be not enough good to hear. You have to be patient low quality sound and a little delay for the communication and a short advertisement before the dial in each call. When the call was busy, you don\'t need to put the number again, just press dial button, then automatically send the prior dial number. Also, It supplies to save personal phone book with address too.
Anyhow, It was pretty good to check AVM everyday for me. I had talked with FBI officer to check finger printer status through the dialpad. At that time, the hearing sound in my side was not bad but I guess the office might feel some delayed voice from me. But our conversation was successful and heard that my finger printing was sent to INS at same day that I had done in Oakland.
