I just went to the local FBi office to talk with them about the namecheck and to c if they can help me. it was pretty useless basically. they told me that they can't help here and those cases are handled in west virginia (although to my knowledge it is in washington DC) and he told me that the namecheck is takin these days 6 months to 1 yr in many cases.

the funny thing is that fbi website says that almost all cases are cleared in 60 days after submission.

in summary all this is a mess and nobody knows when this namecheck thing will clear. i believe all the estiamted dates that USCIS and FBI show about clearing namecheck are not representative.
 
Antonio, it's good to see you back on the ground. Healthy pessimism etc. Understand, that I don't want to see you stuck so I am not alone. This process is not working, that's all.

I don't really understand why security check should be stopping anyone from getting GC in the first place. What about the presumption of innocence? If they find I have terrorist connections let them revoke the damn piece of plastic. No, they have to make you pay for EADs, APs and keep on toes for years.
 
I agree. This is mess, a Big mess. I heard that they started doing security checks (on random basis) for people who apply for non immigrant visas in the consulates abroad. I think, it is getting worse, not getting better.
 
And for some people approval in just one month!

I think they really expedite the process for people who are being sponsored. A friend of mine got his approval and GC within a month of FP. He was being sponsored by a big US private company. I guess for the rest of us, self-petitioners, we just wait and wait and wait...

sponsoring does not matter... my 485 is pending from 9/05
i feel security check is not a problem for western europeans... then there are some lucky ones.. but if you are from a third world country you are most likely stuck in this process
