I would like to apply my AP and EAD renewal for 3rd AP & EAD. The payable to option EAD application was “Immigration and Naturalization Service”. Is it correct or is it a old information? (Because INS changed their name to USCIS)

"Department of Homeland Security"? Hmm I never saw this on INS documents. Can you please post the link that you used to get this info?

Other EAD applicants, What did you use when you have applied for you EAD renewals?

JUNK12345,

For EAD I suggest you use online filing ( efiling), You can pay using your credit card too. it is simple

Thanks gcworthy!

Sorry for my ignorance. I never used E-filing for EAD. Are there any advantages with e-filing?

This is based on information from my attorney. I have had my checks favoring "Dept. of Homeland Security" encashed and have been able to get the receipt# from the back of the check and check the case status online before getting the receipt from INS.

Go to the EAD forum and you will see the thread related to e-filing EADs right at the top.

The advantage is :

When you complete the Efile form online, you will get your Recipt WAC no.

After about 3-6 days you will receive Formal Recipt. Once you get this you have to call the 1800 no. and fix an appointment at the nearest INS service centre for finger printing and photograph.

On the scheduled day you there with the relevant documents and get everything done.

THEN FINALLY WAIT ......

This year my wife applied for EAD online and got approved. It took same amount of time as last year (it's NOT faster). But setting up appointment for picture/FP and going to USCIS Service Center is just another additional hassle - eats half of a working day. Traditional way, mailing the application, takes 5/6 more days to reach USCIS and get a WAC number. But I would not apply online next time - I would prefer sending pictures instead of going to USCIS.
