a question about the Philadelphia office

I've read on this forum that in some jurisdictions a judge is routinly available at the oath cereomony. Is that the case in the Philadelphia district office? I am asking because of a name change request. Thanks in advance for your input.

There are 2 types of oaths usually. Same day oath for people with no name change. If you have a name change, then it's usually at a court with a judge. Check on pa board as to how long it is taking to get an oath for name change candidates. It is usually 4 to 6 weeks delay.

Normally, In Philadelphia Office will do Oath ceremoney without name change. If it is name change, they will send to Local Courthouse. For me, it was happen like that. Myself and my wife attended interview on 23rd November 2009 and passed. We requested Oath ceremoney on same date. IO said because of name change they will send me to Allentown Courthouse and they said I have wait until court house will decide the date for Oath ceremoney. IO doesn't know when it will happen.

Thanks a lot for answering my questions! Very helpful indeed. csekar, please keep us posted how long you have to wait to have your oath at the county courthouse. I don't mind waiting for a month or two, but I hope it'd not be a full-blown name change process. Have done it for a family memeber. It is a pretty troublesome process.

oh, by "same day oath" you mean same day as the interview? That'd be convinient saving a trip downtown.

I mean same day is, the oath date for my wife and oath date for me the same day (Oath Date for my wife is 9th Dec 2009).
Not on same day of interview day (interview date 23rd November 2009).
