A question about RFE

Many RFEs require tax returns. I wonder if INS requests BOTH federal and state tax returns, or just federal.

most of the cases just federal. I got RFE sometime in June and they asked for only federal tax returns (1040 forms).

I have another question regarding the tax return. Are we talking about copies that one keeps after sending the tax return papers to IRS or is it some thing that IRS must deliver. Please advise.

They need copies of W2 and Tax returns. EVL is reuired in original.

Sometime they may be vague in what they need. For example RFE might just say 2 years tax returns. In that case, you may want to send them both the federal and state including any schedules. Otherwise also, sending everything is a good idea.
