A# on I-485 form

Hi

I have a question about the A# that they ask to be filled out on I-485 form

My husband came here on F1 and got his EAD when he applied for OPT (Optional Training) after he finished school. That EAD (no longer valid) has an A#

He is in H1B now and we are getting ready to file for his GC as a spouse of USC. So what should we fill in under the section where it asks for 'A# (if any)" ? Should we fill in the A# that he has on his EAD that he got thru OPT or just leave it blank?

I read a lot of threads where it has caused a lot of confusion because of people having two A#s and delayed the process.

I will greatly appreciate any response on this

Thank you very much!

Follow the instructions of the form. It asks whether you have been assigned an A# before ---- since you have, you should put it down.

Do not overthink this. There have been some admin. errors involving alien numbers, but that does not mean it happens all the time. And it does not excuse you from providing one when the form clearly requests it.

Best wishes
