A-Number in spouse's I-693, I-485 etc.

I'm completing the required forms for my (to be) wife's I-485 application. I noticed that every form asks for an "A-Number". My I-140 approval notice and my I-485 form that I filed last year have an "A-Number" printed. Do I use the same A-Number, or do I leave it blank and wait for BCIS to assign one?

Thanks,
WillyeMays

I believe USCIS assigns A# after receiving I-485 form. In that case USCIS will assign the number after they receive the form. Let's see what others have to say.

This is NOT concurrent filing. I first filed my I-140 and then my I-485. Since BCIS called me for fingerprinting, I'm planning to tie the knot real soon (next weekend) in Vegas and add my fiance to my application. She doesn't have to file a I-140.

Her I-485 application asks for an A-Number. DO I use mine, or leave it blank?

Thanks...

Did she had EAD any time? (Might at the F-OPT time). If so use that otherwise you can leave it blank. It will be assigned by the USCIS. A# is alien Number. That is assigned to each individual. You will be identified by that number.

Leave it blank for your spouse. She will be assigned her own A# once they receive her application. It will be on her I-485 receipt. You can use this the next time you have to fill anything, like her EAD or AP forms.

She's been on a H1-B visa since May 2002. She's never had any immigration paperwork done so far.
