A number in passport stamp

I recently got my passport stamped, I just notice that the A number in the stamp does not match any other number (ie A number is 485, etc) it was my understanding that you would get assigned an A number when you file 485 and that you would keep that number once you become a LPR. am I wrong?

Can anybody tell me if the A number stamped in your passport matches any other number in any immigration form?

Thanks a lot

The A# they write on the passport stamp should be your A#, i.e., the same number you see on your EAD, AP, I-485, and the plastic card.

I had the same issue of officer puttting wrong number on the passport. I applied for replacement SSN card with that number and I got letter from SS office to contact USCIS immediately. When I called USCIS, they made me go again for stamping ( with out the pictures). They just put in a new stamp with correct number( after striking off old stamp).

You need to get the number corrected or you may have delays while re entering US.
