I went to interview today and was told they transfered the wrong file. my A number was also shown another guy living in Florida. so no interview was done today and the officer said they are going to investigate and may need to assign me a new A number.

Have any anybody heard of this king of case? do i need to get eveyrhting done from the beginning, like the fingerprint, change EAD and AP......?

Sorry for the USCIS mistake in your case. Did you get to keep the EAD and AP? I would think they are still valid, you paid for it and they were issued, USCIS can figure out how to correct its mistake. What did they tell you, only that they will investigate? I doubt that you'll have to do FP again because your FPs are there and just need to be assigned to a new number, although I wouldn't be surprised if this presents such a challenge to a system that can only remember FPs for 15 months that they'll have you do them over again. If they assign you a new number, I hope they send you new notices, EAD, AP again with the new number for benefit of your own records, but I wouldn't hestiate using the old ones in the meantime if necessary. Authorized is authorized!

yes I got to keep the EAD and AP and what you said is actually what the office told me. he thinks it should be ok to travel using AP unless they notice me a new A number and cancel the old ones.

So let's say you travel with this AP, in the meantime USCIS issues you a new one and sends it to your US address, they might potentially not let you into the country because the A number doesn't match? I sure hope that CBP will exercise some discretion in this case. What if you had never known of the USCIS's mistake and just went traveling with your wrong-A-number AP!

The local officer just called me and told me that they will assign me a new A number and notify me for interview after that. the EAD and AP may needs to be changed, too. The problem is that I have a A number A0xxxxxxxx while the other person has a A number of Axxxxxxxx because it was a very old case. I need to be patient on this.
