I'd had enough of it (actually had had enough of it for a long, long time) and decided to invoke, well, if not divine, then certainly extraneous intervention from a higher being. Walked into the Congressman's office with my sob story about how after 25 1/2 months of waiting I was still no closer to approval, and to boot, no closer even to a second fingerprinting, or an RFE.
The Congressman's Constituent Liaison person got right on the horn with the BCIS and I learnt that the BCIS had placed my wife and myself in a queue for re-fingerprinting on, would you believe it, 10/23/03 !!! The name checks for all of us were good too. We should expect to get a notice from the BCIS in 6-8 weeks for fingerprinting.
The "reason" for the delay? The BCIS said that they had just received notice of change of address on 10/23/03. That is as fishy a story as ever there was one, because my I-485 was filed from this address on 9/13/2001 and we have lived, if not happily ever after, then at least in body, mind and spirit at the very same location from before the I-485 was filed.
Oh well, no point crying over spilt milk. I guess every silver lining has a dark cloud, but for me this seems as silver a lining as ever there was one.
All ye fellow sufferers, consider making a trip to your Congressman's office. You have nothing to lose but a half day's vacation.
