A# changed?

Anybody here has their A# changed during the process of applying for GC?

My info:

RD 10/2002
1st 2nd EAD AP
3rd EAD AP pending
2nd FP done 5/07/2004
Not approved yet, and online status never changes.

My A# has been changed starting from the 2nd EAD, the on-site(FP site) immigration officer said my A# has been "consolidated" into the new number, but my attorney said A# should never change , now I'm all confused.

Anybody has the similar experience?

Ask your attorney to make enquiry. Otherwise you can go to local office and tell them situation. One of my friend had similar problem. He came to know about this when his third EAD was denied as there was no I-485 was pending on that A#. Later with the help of local congressman it was cleared.
It may not be big problem but can add up to unnecessary delays.
