i applied for I-824 around 5 months ago for a CP on an approved I-140 (EB1) category. one month ago they sent a 'request for information' asking which consulate i want NVC to send my info to. now when i check case status online, it says 'case is taking 150 days to 999 days' !

what does this mean - how long will it take for the rest of the process to go through. anyone with similar experience ?

For me, my file date of I-824 is April 9, 2004 and NVC sent fee request bill dated Feb 14, 2005. So, this might give you an idea how it went in our case.. Ours was CSC. You might be quite lucky to get it early...

thanks ssb.

did you also get the letter asking which consulate you want the info sent to ? if so, when did you get this letter ? on the USCIS website, it says if there is no update in 60days, we should call them. did you also keep calling or just waited till feb 14th 2005 ?

Check whether your consulate accepts AC-140 cases. If yes then you need not wait for the approval of I-824 and also you will bypass some steps with NVC.

hi all,

thanks for the inputs. just to let you know - i recieved notification that I-824 has been approved on july 5th. so that makes it approx.5 months and 10 days.

what happens next ? they said that the information has been sent to the consulate or POE. but i thought the NVC should recieve it ...

Soon you will get a letter from NVC asking for Choice of Agent,i.e they have accepted your case and for communication they need a person it can be you or lawyer or somebody.Normally everyone chooses lawyer or themselves
