90 days on Visa Waiver now wants a B2 visa

Hi,

I was just in the US for just about three months on the visa waiver program and I'm looking to come back for more than just three months. I left the US at the beginning of July and am looking to come back sometime in September with a B2 nonimigrant visa, hoping to stay for about 6 months. Does anyone think I'll have issues being approved because of such a short turn around?

There will be two issues ;
1. Like you said quick turn around and why you need a B2 when you are eligible for the waiver, as because 99 percent of the travellers will find 3 months sufficient for tourism, its different if you are visiting close relatives here.
2. If your Country of origin is a area of US concerns regarding extremism than there will be clearances required before they will issue a Visa. Once you apply the Visa and for some reasons get denied, trying to obtain entry under VWP will raise red flags if you are from one of those countries originally and will be subject to additional scrutiny at POE.
