7th year H1 extention not yet approved; will extn Receipt do the trick?

Hello;

My H1 visa stamped on the Passport has expired and my extension which is already filed is NOT yet approved.

I do have all other documents needed for visitor sponsor + i also have the i-797 Extension Receipt of my 7th yr h1.

Do u think its OK for my parents to go to the visa interview, with this? Not sure if consular officer will demand a +ve Approved Notice for 7th year extn.

any help / suggestion is appreciated.
