7th year H1 Extension and AC21 together

After a few months I will reach 6 years H1 limit. My 140 is approved, 485 is pending > 180 days and I am with the sponsoring company from almost 5 years. If I switch the job now and use AC21, will it be possible for new employer to do H1 transfer and 7th year extension based on it?

Any body tried this?

I tried this and got extensions for 3 more years. Basically I shifted to diff employer after H1B extension

I want to invoke AC21. Do you know what document I need including the cover letter of Ac21. Also what document do I need from new employer. I don't want to go thru Lawyer instead want to go ahead by myself.

These are the documents which one sends normally.

1. EVL from your new employer which talks about position, salary, job responsibilities, educ requirements etc...

2. Latest pay stubs.

3. copy of 485

4.job change notification letter from you.

5. Cover letter which gives summary of all above.

You can find in this forums for samples. there are many.

Thanks for your replies, I got to ask a few more questions:-

1) Did you first get the H1 Extension with the current employer (GC sponsor) and then transfered H1 to new employer + filed AC21 OR did you transfer the H1 to new employer at the same time asking for extension beyond 6 years?

2) I heard H1 extension after 6 years is granted by one year only but in some cases it is possible to get it for 3 years. Could you please tell what basis you used to get 3 years extension?

3) In case I am on 7th year extension with new employer and I485 gets denied for some reason, does H1 automatically becomes invalid in this situation?

No. When we requested for H1 transfer, lawyer sent my I-485 receipt along with application. Then I got three years of extension from VSC.

After joining the new company, filed AC21 docs though NSC(where my 485 was pending) didn't even look into them.

Hi Guys,
I'm pretty much in the same boat. I presently have a good offer from a company and cannot use my EAD to switch since my wife's on H4 (I haven't been able to file her i-485 as PD's and visa number nonavailablility) and she would be out of status if I did.
Thank you 'GCDeewana' for your info, it was a great relief. AlterEgo, I would be thankful if you can let me know any more information that you might have gathered in this regard.
