I am gathering documents for N400.
I had a traffic citation (car pool lane) 7 years ago (prior to becoming permanant resident). I paid the fine and attended traffic school.
So charges were dismissed.

I am expected to declare this in N400 (from all posts on this topic here), correct ? (eventhough it was prior to obtaining permanant residency)

So do I also send notarized copy of court letter with my N400 application
saying that I paid fine and took traffic school ?

Thanks in advance for your comments

I went to the courthouse and asked for a copy of their records and for them to stamp the copy with the court seal. I had to do this 3 times. I just wanted to show that the cases were resolved etc.

- One was a large US city court that had computerized records and they were able to pull the record up on the computer right there, print it out, sign it and use the court's embossed stamp to certify it.

- Another was a smaller US mayor's court that had paper records. They needed a couple days to find and pull the physical file because it was about 8 years ago. The gave me notarized photcopies and used the court stamp.

To back these up I got a copy of my driver's record from the BMV that shows no outstanding tickets.

- I also got a ticket from my home country about 15 years ago. I sent a letter to the court asking them for either a copy of the record, or an official letter stating that the record could nto be obtained. To back this up I sent a seperate request under the Freedon of Information Act for a copy of my criminal history from that country.

Overkill? maybe. But I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. :D

Thanks for your replies.
Follow up question for Scruit
So did you send any of the documents/copies that you collected with N-400 ?
Or did you just carry those for the actual interview ?

Not had my interview yet. I sent the certified copy of one of the court records (the only one I had at the time) with the N400. The other two I got afterwards and will use as supporting docs for my interview in case they ask for them.
