My H1 is expiring soon. I am applying for I-140 now. My lawyer told me that I can't apply I-485 concurently with I-140 because there is no available visa #. Is that true?
Since I don't have much time left on my H1, should I need to file extension? Please corrent me if I am wrong, I heard that once I file my I-485, I don't need to be on H1 anymore although it's not approved yet.
If I need to file for extension, how much does it cost? I am planning to do this on my own. I check USBIS website, it seems very unclear about the filing fee.
